From its early days as a seaside resort, Dinard has developed a special bond with England. The English, the city’s first tourists, built the first villas that are now a distinctive feature of Dinard.
In this tradition, the Dinard British and Irish Film Festival celebrates the best of British and Irish cinema, its actors, and its directors. Many films featured in the festival have achieved international success, such as Shallow Grave in 1994, The Full Monty in 1997, or Billy Elliot in 2000.

The festival has welcomed numerous personalities from both French and British cinema. Over the years, some of the biggest names have chaired the jury, including Monica Bellucci, Catherine Deneuve, Patrick Bruel, and Jane Birkin, among others.
