SUSTAINABLE DESTINATION
Travel with purpose
Which destination for sustainable holidays?
Explore the splendor of Dinard Côte d’Émeraude, a breathtaking region where every trip honors the environment. Discover pristine landscapes and embrace responsible tourism that celebrates natural beauty and supports local conservation efforts.
1 / Saint-Lunaire: The small town with a big commitment to Nature
Since October 2019, Saint-Lunaire has held the title of “Best Small Town for Biodiversity,” demonstrating that ecological and responsible management of natural spaces is possible.
Saint-Lunaire is a nature-conscious town! It carries out various actions to protect and restore natural habitats and coastal areas: maintaining networks of ponds, creating migration pathways, installing “toad tunnels” and bird nesting boxes, planting native species, and fostering forest regeneration. Along the coastline, you’ll find tide pools, preserved seaweed banks, eco-friendly moorings, and protections for the Longchamp dune.
A biodiversity charter is also in place for residents, offering practices to preserve local biodiversity and encouraging voluntary participation in these initiatives. Residents receive regular updates, becoming biodiversity ambassadors who report observations and contribute to efforts to protect rare or endangered species.
And for family-friendly, eco-friendly journeys, enjoy the brand-new bike paths!
2 / Saint-Briac-sur-Mer and its stunning Blue Flag beaches
The Blue Flag is an environmental and tourism label awarded annually since 1985 to communities and marinas making efforts in environmental management. In 2020, two beaches in Saint-Briac earned this label: Grande Salinette and Port-Hue.
Mobility is also part of this initiative, encouraging gentle travel by foot or bike. Each year, new bike parking areas and protected pedestrian paths are added. To reduce car congestion near the beaches, a free shuttle service runs throughout the town to the beaches—give it a try!
3 / An amazing GR34 trail preserved
The GR®34, also known as the Customs Officers’ Trail, is undoubtedly the most famous French coastal path. It was named “France’s Favorite GR®” in 2017. This exceptional trail weaves through rocky cliffs and sandy bays. While the natural heritage is prominent, cultural heritage is also rich, with landmarks such as the Belle Époque villas in Dinard, the Romanesque church in Saint-Lunaire, and many small chapels. Exceptional sites include the Pointe du Nick in Saint-Lunaire, the Garde Guérin in Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, and the bays of Lancieux, among others.
Birdwatching enthusiasts will also be delighted, as seabirds and migratory species are abundant along the trail. The mild climate further enriches the environment, supporting a more southern vegetation than one might expect, despite the northern winds. Bus lines run along the coast, allowing you to break up your journey and explore at your own pace!
